Our Story. Our Impact. Our Commitment to Veterans.
For more than three decades, Stand Down has been a place of hope, healing, and opportunity for veterans in crisis. What began as a simple mission to help fellow veterans has grown into a comprehensive network of housing, supportive services, and life-changing programs that empower veterans and their families to achieve stability and self-sufficiency.
Every milestone in our history represents lives transformed, families reunited, and a community committed to ensuring no veteran has to face hardship alone.

OUR JOURNEY

A Mission Born from Service
Founded by veterans Roy Foster and Donald Reed, Stand Down began with a vision to help their fellow brothers and sisters in arms. Through the creation of Faith Hope Love Charity, Inc., they established a foundation dedicated to addressing both the visible and invisible wounds faced by veterans and military members.

Opening Stand Down House
Stand Down House opened its doors to
provide emergency and transitional
housing for male veterans facing
addiction, mental illness, PTSD,
traumatic brain injuries, physical
limitations, and homelessness. More
than housing, it became a place for
recovery, support, and renewed
purpose.

Building the Village of Valor
Stand Down broke ground on the Village of Valor, a transformative community featuring 54 a ordable two- and three-bedroom homes designed speci cally for veteran families. This milestone represents the organization's ongoing commitment to providing not only immediate assistance, but long-term pathways to stability and independence.

Impact That Changes Lives
Behind every statistic is a veteran who found hope, a family that found stability, and a community that chose to care.
For more than 30 years, Stand Down has worked alongside veterans during some of the most difficult moments of their lives. The numbers tell an important story, but the real impact can be found in the lives rebuilt, the hardships overcome, and the futures made possible through the support of compassionate donors, volunteers, partners, and advocates.
Every veteran served represents someone who gained access to housing, healthcare, employment support, benefits assistance, or the resources needed to regain stability. Every family helped represents children, spouses, and loved ones who were given renewed hope for a brighter tomorrow.
Because when veterans are supported, entire communities grow stronger.
