Annual Casino Night Fundraiser Supports Housing, Stability and A Stronger Tomorrow for Palm Beach County Veterans
As Veterans Day approaches, Stand Down, an initiative of Faith Hope Love Charity, is inviting residents and businesses throughout Palm Beach County to help ensure no veteran faces homelessness alone.
On Saturday, November 7, Stand Down will host its annual Casino Night: A High Stakes Affair fundraiser at the Lake Pavilion on the downtown West Palm Beach waterfront. Proceeds from the event directly support housing assistance, emergency aid, case management, and long-term programs that help homeless and at-risk veterans regain stability and independence.
While veteran homelessness is often associated with larger cities, housing insecurity affects veterans throughout Palm Beach County, including Jupiter, West Palm Beach, Wellington, Delray Beach, Boca Raton, and surrounding communities . “Many people don’t realize that veteran homelessness and housing instability impact every corner of our county,” said Josh Maddock, Stand Down Executive Director. “As we approach Veterans Day, we’re asking our community to move beyond simply thanking veterans for their service and instead take action to help veterans who are struggling right here at home.”
From Homelessness to Homeownership For many veterans, Stand Down’s support has been life changing.
“I was on the verge of being homeless and had nowhere to go with my 3-year-old son,” said Arianna, a U.S. Army veteran. “I was introduced to the resources at Stand Down and they helped me get into an apartment by helping with utilities and rent. With Stand Down’s help, I was able to get on my feet and now I am a homeowner.” James, a U.S. Air Force veteran, faced similar challenges. “I was living in a hotel and I was referred to Stand Down,”
James said. “They ended up paying for my hotel for 90 days so I could save my money and catch up on my bills. They helped me get into an apartment by paying my first month’s rent plus two months of security. I later was able to purchase my own home and I would not have been able to accomplish this without the help of Stand Down.”
Stories like these are the reason Stand Down continues its mission of helping veterans overcome temporary hardships and build brighter futures.
Turning Community Support into Real Impact Funds raised through Casino Night support Stand Down’s comprehensive programs, including:
Stand Down Resource Center
The hub for veteran outreach, case management and referrals. Providing veterans in crisis stability services including move-in assistance, rent, security & utility deposits, childcare, access to benefits, healthcare navigation, employment assistance and financial planning.
Stand Down House

Village of Valor
54 affordable homes for veteran families. Under construction now, due to open 2027.
Together, these initiatives provide veterans and their families with access to housing support, employment resources, wellness services, case management, and pathways toward long-term self-sufficiency.
